Pink, What do you Think? 💗

Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink.

The Facts!

Pink is and has always been a prevalent colour. I believe that there is a shade of Pink for every mood. It is considered one of the colours of Joy and Happiness and represents, charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness and romance. The colour is said to be calming and some prison cell walls are painted pink to reduce the erratic behaviour of cellmates. There is a presence about the colour Pink which I believe makes it very powerful. I am always drawn to anyone who wears pink when first meeting them, whether male or female. There is a quiet confidence and elegance about the colour Pink, don’t you agree?

Pink has a very rich history which goes back to biblical times. In my research, I found that the 3rd Sunday of the advent (the period of preparation of celebration of the birth of Christ) is said to be Pink! I would normally associate Red and Green with the period leading up to Christmas, not Pink! What a great excuse to have a Pink Christmas.

The Fashion!

The colour Pink has always been popular throughout history. Pink became fashionable in the mid 18th century in the West when European artistocrats wore it as a symbol of luxury and class. It gained more recognition in 1937 when Elsa Schiaparelli introduced shocking Pink in her collection. It then became the iconic colour of the Schiaparelli brand.

Another Pink iconic moment was in the film, Breakfast at Tiffiany’s where the timeless legend that is Audery Hepburn wore a complete Pink outfit which consisted of a Pink dress created by Givency, Pink shoes, Pink earrings and a Pink Tiara. One of my favourite dresses throughout fashion would have to be YSL’s Paris Dress, designed in 1983. It has a beautiful Pink silk top with a gorgeous oversized bow on the back and a simple black velvet skirt. This is my idea of the perfect dress. If we are going to talk about iconic Pink moments, we cannot forget the icon that is herself, Marilyn Monroe. One of her famous performance of ‘Diamonds are a Girls Friend’ in the film ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ will always be loved not only for the song and the performance but also of the stunning Pink gown worn.
