Influence: The definition!
The Oxford English dictionary definition of influence is, ‘the effect that somebody/something has on the way a person thinks or behaves or on the way that something works or develops.
Influence: A Brief History.
The word Influence was first referred to as a fluid that flowed from the Heavens as a fluid which reached Earth. This liquid was thought to affect the actions of the planet’s inhabitants, especially humans.
Influencing began all the way back in the 18th Century. A potter named Josiah Westwood created a tea set for the Queen in 1760 and publicised himself as the ‘Potter of her Majesty.’ They got the royal stamp of approval and became his brand.
In 1920, the Icon that is Coco Chanel introduced the little black dress and the trouser suit into fashion. Every woman wanted to look like and be Coco Chanel, I still want to look like Coco Chanel, she just designed the most amazing clothes. The trousers suit was also influenced by Coco Chanel in that era, what a brave thing to create a trouser suit for a woman in the 20’s.
Let’s talk about one of the biggest modern-day Influencers in our modern-day History, the legend, Michael Jordan! In 1984, Michael Jordan made a deal with Nike creating the legendary Air Jordan s and who better to endorse the product than the man himself?
