Lingerie is the first thing that touches your skin every morning. It is also one of the most delicate pieces of apparel that any woman owns. Taking good care of your Lingerie can make them last longer and in the long term, save you a lot of money and keep them feeling soft on your skin! Looking after your intimates doesn’t have to be difficult at all. These quick tips will ensure that your secret luxuries will stay beautiful.
Always read the care instructions label… I am so guilty for not doing this 😞. Every intimate garment is made from different materials and different fibers so they all have different fabric properties. One lace bra will have different care instructions than another lace bra so it is very important to read the care instructions on your knickers!
Have space in your draws specifically for your bras….This tip is especially important if you have molded bras. Nobody wants their boobs looking misshapen.
Hand wash your Lingerie in lukewarm water… My mum always told me to do this, this means you can take care washing, rinsing and drying your intimates. To tell you the truth, I have fallen out of this habit (sorry mum😬) for convenience. Like many other women, I throw my underwear in the washing machine. If you are going to do this, please make sure your machine is set to a delicate setting and not washed for hours. I put my washing machine on a 15-minute cycle and on the lowest temp setting. You get clean underwear and it’s great for the environment. One more bonus tip here is to wash all your delicates in a mesh washing bag if you do pop them in the washing machine.
PreTreat your Lingerie… The best way to always remove stains is to add a bit of detergent to them and let them soak for 30mins to an hour in lukewarm water. This will prevent any white, ivory or cream coloured intimates from staining.
DO NOT dry your Lingerie in a tumble dryer… You should always air dry all your intimates. (no excuses) Never twist or wring out your bras because this can damage the wires in them. I think the best thing to do when removing excess water is to put them in a dry towel and gently squeeze or roll the excess water out.
Never wash your delicate Lingerie with towels or jeans… Your underwear is made from very delicate materials which are soft and intricately embroidered. If you put your secret luxuries in with rough and tough materials, then they will come out rough, snagged, with holes in them and ruined and nobody wants that, (well I might, then I can go shopping for more). If you do want to wash your intimates with other apparel, then please do use a mesh washing bag. They help with protecting your delicates from catching on other materials in the washing cycle.
